Questions & Concerns

DO YOU HAVE AN ISSUE OR CONCERN, A QUESTION YOU NEED ANSWERED OR JUST LOOKING FOR ADVICE OR DIRECTION?

Recently we have had a few concerns with Managers telling their Employees that if they have any concerns they need to come to them (Management) first before going to the Union.

That is not the case. You can come directly to us without consulting your Manager first. Besides, what if it’s your Manager that you have the issue with?

We have also had Managers threaten their Employees, “If you don’t do or do a certain something that they will call the Union”.  We work for the Employees, not Management.  When you see us in the store for an investigation, we are there to protect the rights of the Employee. We are there to make sure that the Collective Agreement is being adhered to and that you are being treated fairly.

We have even had calls from Employees telling us that their Manager is telling them that “Maybe they should hand in their resignation” or even saying to Employees “I could let you go right now because of this.”  This is a form of personal harassment and needs to be reported to the Union office ASAP.

If there is a chance that an Employee could be disciplined or terminated, there needs to be an investigation and the Union needs to be present to represent the employee.

If you have a concern or a question, call us first!  Maybe you just want direction on where to turn. Everything discussed is confidential and we don’t act on it unless directed to do so by the employee.

Your best source for accurate information regarding the collective agreement is your Union. The Union is here to represent you and your rights. Ask Management about operational issues and call the Union about Collective Agreement issues.
